Director's notes
"Here Right Now" was guided in part by personal experience of a grandparent with dementia. I was interested in creating a film that explored the complexities and intricacies of caring for a loved one with dementia, in a way that felt sensitive to everyone involved and true to my family's experience.
There are so many difficult choices to be made as a family member or caretaker of a loved one with dementia that it can feel overwhelming and dispiriting. I hope that the core of the film will resonate with anyone in a similarly tough position, or more broadly even.
Sometimes the most important things are the simplest - just being present for and with another person, even if that's all you're able to offer, often means more than words can say.
The film was shot on 16mm, and is a student project.
